And I get people sending me "news" they saw on fb all the time. And so far about 90% of it is fake (News8Now is a big one) through and through, but they believe it cause their trusted friends shared it on fb!

...
This is one of the things that drives me nuts. People's critical thinking skills just aren't being developed. No one thinks, "Hey, that sounds a little fishy" or anything like that. They just accept it at face value.
Fixed that for you.

I am a professional cynic and given my druthers (what a strange word that is...) I would delete Facebook and the like from the universe.

Better yet, I would delete those use Facebook and the like from the universe.

And the next person who states that (insert quoted nonsense here) is true because they read it on Wikipedia will get his eye poked out using the sharp end of a dead stoat.

Must go, I have to update my Facebook status.

I'm curious what prevents you from deleting your facebook? Not that I'm judging - I've had mine deactivated for awhile and I think it says something about me that I'm not quite in a place to actually delete it.

Why would I delete my Facebook account?

I use it to sneer and snark at the dimwits, including me, who post their rubbish, tripe and fantasies on a regular basis.

Let's say I have an average IQ (work with me here people!).

As soon as I go on Facebook I have a well above average, approaching Mensa IQ.

QED

PS the first one to tell us he/she is a member of Mensa will get a virtual smack on the side of the head from everyone on this forum.
