The Frenchman Louis Lumiere, inventor of the motion picture camera,needed a static object that had some movement, so he experimented by filming a flushing toilet.

that is a SoCal member who's board name was SteveUCI or something like that it was short for University of Ca Irvine( RB can correct me if I spelt it wrong ) he had that in his sig & its HIM mom had the pleasure of meeting him at one of the BBQ's RB had at his home. I asked him to re - create it for me so I could see it live & he did Nice 
It always makes me smile so I have it in my AV Collection

CRAP
The first time a flushing toilet was shown on film was in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho in 1960, almost two hundred years after the flush toilet was invented! What a pot-shot! <
