I think that 90% figure has been thrown around a lot but it's more in the 75 ish range with a lot more people settling further north. Expecting an update to the census in a few months which is exciting as someone who largely did Canadian data mining as a job for 3 years

Corollary - some of the professors at my alma mater liked to say we lived north of 80% of the Canadian population. I'm not sure what the real percentage was, but Houghton was northing of GTA, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City. So it's probably more like 50 or 60 percent but still weird. Eh?
