Corollary - some of the professors at my alma mater liked to say we lived north of 80% of the Canadian population. I'm not sure what the real percentage was, but Houghton was northing of GTA, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City. So it's probably more like 50 or 60 percent but still weird. Eh?

I feel like it was probably accurate at some point in time but population growth in Vancouver (especially), Edmonton, Calgary, etc would make it unlikely to be much more than half.
