Fantastic discovery!! the empty post.
Your insurance shouldn't go up too bad....I dont think. As long as the rest of your record isn't too bad and they consider you a threat. As long as they are making more money off of you than giving you, you should be good :D. I hate insurance companies!! If you dont turn it into insurance than what is the point of having it?? ....thats the way I feel about it....
I'm with spandx on this one (sorry, spa, love callin' you that). You should be okay. What was the nature of the accident? Overdriving or weather or other considerations? Just asking to gauge repricussions for insurance.
As for Miatas, what are you looking to do with it? If you're looking to build something Spec Miata-like, then go with an earlier 1.6L car (90-93), as you'll end up gutting most of the car anyway. If you want the bigger engine (1.8L) but still pretty easy to mod, go with a clean 94-95. They're pre OBDII diagnostics, so easier to mod.
Anything newer than that will probably be tough to find for $6k

Hi Jack, I was in an accident with my Civic a long time ago - I was over 25 but not much - I turned left in front of someone and got broadsided. It totalled the little Civic, but I didn't get a ticket or anything. I don't remember my insurance going up too much. I bought an Integra to replace it, and was basically living paycheck-to-paycheck at the time. Don't remember pain associated with insurance costs. I think you should be OK.
Well, I was driving home from a friend's place. This was at about 3 in the morning, it was 9 degrees Farenheit outside, and there were mild flurries (not enough to affect the handling of the car). The speed limit on the highway was 55mph, and I was doing 55-60mph (I don't usually speed on highways). I got to my exit ram, and I may have sped up a little or remained at the same speed, instead of slowing down (65mph at the very most, probably not even that - this is where I usually go a little faster). But as I entered the curve, it suddenly occurred to me how cold it was outside and I proceeded to step on the brakes to slow the car down (gently, mind you, but I believe this was my mistake). The rest happened very quickly - I believe my back end came out (oversteered), and my front end went into the concrete guardrail on the right, and my car continued going for another 20 feet or so.
The damage didn't look bad at the time. The car didn't even stall. My immediate concern was that there was someome coming behind me. Fortunately there wasn't. I just continued driving home immediately after the car came to a full stop.
I didn't have any alcohol that night, and I was wearing my seatbelts (added that 'cos I believe insurance companies/cops usually ask that when there's an accident). The accident is still my fault though :(.
I'm most likely not going to modify it at all. I'll just bring it to the local (Windy City Miata Club) autocrosses, which I've been doing with my Integra for about a year now.
What is a Spec Miata anyway?

That's good to hear Kathy. Who was at fault in your accident though? My biggest concern here was that my accident was entirely my doing. I knew I shouldn't have gone that fast on that curve because of the cold weather (even though that curve was very mild, even for a highway exit ram), but I did anyway, until the very last minute.
Sounds to me from what you describe that it was weather/circumstances. Given that, I wouldn't worry about insurance. Would have been different if you'd been joyriding or something else silly, but doesn't sound like that's the case.
As for Spec Miata, it's an all Miata racing series, basically. Pretty cool and I'm starting to meet people in this area that are really into it. You can learn more at specmiata.com if you're interested.
I'm still on the fence about what I'm going to do with mine when I get it. Probably start with autocross and daily driver for at least the first year. Once I have another daily driver I'll decide if I want to step up to Spec Miata. Sounds like fun, though...
