Hear the deal. It overlays the satellite imagery used in Google maps over the world topology. You have a 3d earth and can zoom in (smooth zoom) and pan around. You can also tilt your view angle. It's the same software CNN uses when they show you Afganistan mountains etc.
Some few cities have had the buildings added but normally the buildings are flat against the terrain... still cool.
You can also save sites to your desktop app like "place where I grew up"... "grandma's house" etc.
