Well, it was a quote from "My Fair Lady", which is a musical based on George Bernard Shaw's play. I'm not quite sure who did the musical version.

Lets just pretend George Bernard Shaw said it, since he's a pretty smart guy.

The professor was Rex Harrison (the actor, that is). The production was probably done by Rogers and Hammerstein, but I'm not certain about that.
