So, I played for about 4 hours at Mom's house... finished about 10% of the career mode. Didn't play on Live at all.

I liked the game. I think it's too easy though, at least the earlier portion. The entire "open" section is silly; I raced the AWD section with a 600+ HP Skyline; I put half a lap on the field in 2 laps. The <300 HP section, I used an A2-class NSX with 297 HP - that weighed 2600 lbs and had maxxed out aero and handling upgrades. It's kinda silly; rather than improving your ability to drive the car, you can just make a car overwhelmingly faster. I guess that's what people want though?

I also don't like the qualifying thing; there were a lot of races where the only contact I had with another car was the 2nd place car trying to late brake and wrecking me.

The physics model for the opponent cars is total shit. They can easily spin my car out while I'm driving straight; I was in turns and would ram into their rear corner and they'd just keep going. I don't know why the programmers chose that path, as there's no benefit to wrecking opponent cars. It just pisses me off when an opponent can ruin my race but I can't even spin them without losing 3-5 spots.

The S2000 is a piece of shit in the game. I won't buy one if I play the game on my own XBox.

I used a wheel for a while. MadCatz mc2. It was horrible. The pedals were nice, easier to moderate braking than with the controller, but steering was bad. I'm much better with a controller.

I want to try it on Live. I suspect most of the things I don't like are negated by having equal opposing cars.

I'm trying to go through career mode without buying anything unless I must. Only a couple of times have I had a car that outclassed the field.

I cannot steer with a controller. The wheel isn't perfect but I am getting better at utilizing it in spite of that.

This has not been a problem for me until the Tokyo Circuit in the Z series. They keep doing this to me at the end of the long straight going into the extremely tight hairpin turn. I tried about 15 times to finish this course but couldn't.

I guess there's that way... it seems like the cars you win are good enough to be midpack. I had several races starting 5th or 6th that I was able to win after a few tries. The Skyline was somewhat accidental; it was my C series car (C2 stock?) and I modified it to see what kind of power it was capable of before finishing the C series. When I went to race the AWD series, it was an option, along with the Evos that I bought/won (which also would have handily won the category).

I think I could adapt to the wheel, but I'm so used to the controller that it's just easier. A couple of the microsofties at Pizza on Friday were saying they needed a wheel to beat it. I'd like to try some of the better wheels before paying the $ though.

I noticed it in the D stock series. I would qualify 3rd in the integra (I think?)... we'd drag race to the first turn, I could out accelerate 2nd and trail brake to pass the leader in the first turn. I'd usually bump the leader a bit; on more than one occasion I'd hit is front quarter panel (about a 30 degree angle of impact) and I would somehow get spun out. If I tried to spin him (nudge his rear quarter in mid-turn) it never worked unless I really pushed hard; he'd always spin into me and I'd lose 3-4 spots.

Several times when I got a good launch and was handily ahead of the leader by the first turn, he'd tap my rear quarter panel and send me into the sand.

One positive aspect I forgot is that the launch really depends on the player, unlike PGR2 where you just hold it to the floor. I ed my MR2 motor up by pounding the redline too many times before the start.

It's usually pretty easy to win if the car can qualify 4th or higher. 5th or 6th is a little more challenging especially if the lead car gets way out in front.

The only other wheels I have come across are the similarly priced Logitech NASCAR wheel (which I just refuseed to buy ) and the $150 Speedster 3 ForceShock Xbox Wheel.
