Yeah, in a car that a dozen people I know would have ended up in the top 10. The IRL field isn't that deep

However, you are both correct in that hotness (marketing) matters. I learned a long time ago that driving talent does not equal a good ride or steady pay.

 

Good point about KL. I think DP's hotness will continue to be a factor but KL winning will take the limelight.

 

Well... some of that sounds like excuses. And some doesn't matter. Why aren't a dozen people you know (and hundreds you don't) in that seat? Hotness.

And a decent ability.

Then again when it comes to ability she's no KL. Sad to say... KL needs a stylist.

 

I am - who'd she beat? Bucknum? Puhleez. Rice? Crappy team with crappy management. Roger "I'll take you out, or myself, or both of us" Yasukawa? Tomas "Thanks, but I can find the wall on my own" Enge? Oh, wait, maybe you meant A.J. "I'm here because my dad will spank me if I'm not" Foyt IV?

 

No, they all have decent ability (to drive). They do, however, lack the hotness and marketability (or self-marketing skills).

Perfect example... Jimmy Kitchens. Ever heard of him? Nope, didn't think so. Great talent. Huge talent. But, Clifford Allison got the nod because of his ability to use his family connections, Jimmy ran out of money running ARCA, now he's back to working as a mechanic.

 

Sad, but too true.

 

[COLOR=red]I don't actually think we disagree that much... we just like to argue. There hasn't been much depth anywhere since Tony George took his ball and went home to start the IRL. It polarized and diluted to the point there's no real depth of talent.

We also agree on KL but there's depth here? No. They're good, enthusiastic up and comers.

I was at the local track a week and a half ago and some 3 guys with damn good skilz in the Asphalt Sprints.

Also some guys in late models who were great. (Right up until they decided to start 'rubbing' in the last few laps... they put themselves both out. Ah well... this is local track )

 

No talent ass clowns.
