Go Danica!
Yes, we're both on the same page. And I agree, the field in Pro Atlantic isn't the same as it was back when Shelton, Goodyear, Buhl, Herta, et al were racing. The costs of running an Atlantic car have gotten out of hand, too. In the late '80s we could run a car for less than $200k/yr, with plenty of test days, spares, etc. Now it'll cost you 5~6x more.
So where's that leave Danica? I think her future is as cloudy as the whole IRL season

There is so much talent in the heartland, guys (kids, many of them) running every weekend at some local bowl, slinging it sideways with every bit of skill as any pro
The two in the late models... the leader for 95 laps (of 100) was a kid that couldn't have been much more than 18 was really good. Well at driving. The guy in second for the 95 laps was an older guy... 30?.
Coming around the 90th-95th laps the guy in second was chewing off the yards between them and finally nudged him in the rear going around corner 4 (the toughest). #1 got a little squirrelly and #2 passed.
This clearly got under the kid's skin and he drove like a maniac for a lap and a 1/4 and going in to corner 1 on lap 96 he just wouldn't give way and got down inside the leader. they touched about 4 times going around and BLAM! took pieces off both cars. Had to red flag and both leaders were out.
