Going West...
Anyway, got more details from the director who brought up this idea initially. One of the VPs in the company has an initiative that the director thinks I'm a right fit for.
I think I'll be talking to the VP just to get a better idea of what they are trying to do. But this may not happen, partly because there's so much crap going on in my department, and not enough people working on everything.
Note: This is not an April Fool's joke.

Right now, I'm leaning towards San Diego:
Bay Area:
+ If this doesn't work out, there are tons of tech jobs there
+ Lots of
s there (yes, this is how I make my life decisions)
- Cost of living, housing etc is ridiculous
San Diego:
+ Cost of living not as ridiculous as Bay Area
+ Nice weather, supposedly
- If this doesn't work out, I don't know...

+ Cost of housing is plateuing, time to buy!
San Diego:
- Cost of living is oftentimes worse than Bay Area for food, gas, and some housing (but I think most of the speculators got out that were F-ing it up).
+ close enough to Bay Area to consider Bay Area as the contingency plan if SD fails.
