I don't even know anyone that regularly uses gmail even though it is a great service.

After gmail arrived, MSN expanded the storage space for hotmail.

That is probably one reason they are expanding GMails services.

i thought i read somewhere that to use google's chat service, you need to have a gmail account, which currently is only by word of mouth/invite. i guess that means they will have to do some expanding

Yahoo did the same. I used to have 25 megs on my Yahoo account (plenty). Now I have a gig.
