How is the Miata not a daily driver?! 
Rain, shine, sleet or snow I drive this car. Have yet to encounter something I needed to carry that I couldn't fit in the car.
Now, your DECISION to get the Civic is different, but don't blame that on the Miata not being able to fit the bill...

don't get me wrong.. i love miata's.
the ceo of the company i work for once offered to sell me her miata...it was..hmm.(dunno year), but it was a limited edition.. bbs rims..tan leather, and was like a maroon color. had little to no miles.. never drivin in rain, snow, etc.. i wanted it....dad wanted S.. dad won.

Don't worry, I know you're not knocking the Miata, I just gotta give you flak for picking a bloated and underpowered Civic when you could have something FUN!!

BTW...I discovered upon trying to use my new jack to get under Guinness that I actually need to buy ramps to raise the car enough for me to get to the front crossmember!
