consider, though....

the two dimensional geometry and input of a steering wheel, versuse the three dimensional and also very important timing of the shifter....

you can easily see that, while the left hand steering can move a bit left or right, the right hand must, perfectly and with utmost speed and precision execute a magnificent and accurate shift at a moments notice !!!

here, we can see that a LHD car, is, in fact, superior......

all of you are wrong, the only way to go is MHD.. like in the McLaren F1

ah, great point LG

keep in mind, MHD, is either two of three things, but never the third.

You get right handed shifting, or paddles, left and right.... but you don't get left at all.....

I understand your logic, Wicky, however you should also consider that the gear stick has a gate that limits the inputs available to the operator and is, in fact, to all intents and purposes, also a 2 dimensional action. Steering of the car, however, requires a far more precise and accurate input in order to maintain the required direction of the car and to keep the balance of the car steady, thus making the rhd option far superior for anyone who is right handed.

I agree what you say about the gate... however, basic Geometry class will show that the shifter has a single point about which it *rotates*, thereby thrusting it into the third dimension.

Also, more difficult is the timing and calculations to obtain and accurate and timely gear selection, the fourth dimension.... TIME !!!!

while the steering wheel also depends on timing, at still only reside in a 2d world much like a circle, where the shifter, is in a 3d world, like a sphere......

3 is bigger than 2, and therefore, superior

But us Americans like to move the area we sit in all the way to the limit of rearness and have a clutch, gas, and brake pedal extensions. Thus the left arm will have a straight trajectory to 12 o'clock on the steering wheel. This is often called "thug style."

and to be more accurate, the S2000 in fact, does *not* have a shifter gate

Please note, Wicky, that I did say "to all intents and purposes". I was acknowledging that the stick does in fact move in 3 dimensions, however the vertical movement is minimal to say the least, and it is my considered opinion that unless the car is running on rails, the fact that there is a gate for the stick outweighs the fact that it has a small amount of third dimensional movement.
