It's not the top of my list...but I wouldn't mind rollin' one. I saw what I believe was a Lingenfelter conversion that turned a Caprice Wagon into an Impala with a built motor and beefed up brakes and suspension...

Has Brant considered souping up his current Miata?

This thread sucks.

OK, not really... I already opined on your choices in the ask UT thread. If all cars are open, how about:

- late 90s/early 00s NSX
- F355 (if you can stomach the potential maintenance costs of DDing one)
- E46 M shoe. Ugly as sin but seems to align with most of your interests (other than off roading).
- Cayenne - OK, it's an SUV but it's reasonably quick and could actually do some limited off roading. Of course the douche quotient is about 73.5 times higher than the base Coxster and 3.2 times higher than the Coxster S.

Yeah, I remember that. At Boeing in Everett. I like old Datsuns too. My next door neighbor as a kid had a 69' Datsun 2000 roadster in a dark grey with Panasport wheels. It was the first convertible I ever rode in. He had an 88' Porsche 944 as well. Lucky guy.

I like the DSG tranny and have long liked diesel engines (learned to drive on an old Mercedes turbo diesel). Thought it could be an interesting thing to add into the mix...

Given the current condition of my car, I'd likely rather start with a better base Miata and adding a turbo than souping up my current one.

Not an NSX fan. Great cars...not my style.
F355...hmmm. I have NO idea what the maintenance costs are, but I fear they're probably a tad stiffer than a Lotus. That said, sounds like an interesting DD...
LOVE the M Shoe!
Hate the Cayenne. Wouldn't drive one if someone GAVE it to me...

Love your thinking, though. I appreciate the broad views on cars in the Corner and look forward to any suggestions...

What about a new VW GTI? I test drove one back to back with a Civic Si a couple years ago. Coming from an S2000 I thought I would like the Civic better. Couldn't be farther from the truth.
