Life would be boring if we didn't like to cheat death every now and then.

 

Though it does get a bit tiresome having the grim reaper always peeking over my shoulder...

 

I joined the AF and trained on F4 Phantoms with five other fraternity brothers. Within a year three were shot down and killed in North Vietnam. Then I flew from March AFB to Vietnam and back in B52s. The second landed, I got off, it took off again, and crashed and burned four miles down the road.

 

Well there's a difference between you serving your country in the military, and me almost getting killed over something as stupid as this...

 

Yeah, but I've done some Goddamn stupid things in my day, too.

 

Well, I think we've agreed that what I did was pretty stupid.
