I'm back from merrie olde england. It was a fun trip, had a lot of entertainment just observing how differently we use the English language. Had some lessons in vegetables:
aubergine - eggplant
courgette - zucchini
capsicum - pepper (as in bell pepper)
Other funnies:
way out = exit
tube = subway
subway = underground walking passage
and this one:
The worst part of the trip was having a nice dinner on Friday night late (around 9:30, done around 10:30, which isn't too unusual), then heading out to find a pub to have a few . Much to our surprise, all the pubs close at 11:00 pm - even on the weekends!!
It was horrifying.
Saw Windsor Castle, the Tower of London, stopped by Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guard ... and at the end felt really glad to be American. All the history, royalty, pomp & circumstance seem to be a lot of work.
Anyway, hope to make it through the day - jet lag should set it around mid-afternoon.
Only saw 2 S2000s - a silver with a guy owner, driving top down in the very brisk cold weather ... and a very dirty black one top up (but that day it was raining, so he's off the hook).
Also walked past the high-end car dealerships near Hyde Park and saw some absolutely mouth-watering machines. An F1 McLaren right in the window.
Some beautiful jags and aston martins. Mini Coopers out the ying-yang. And of course Peugeots and Vauxhalls, which we don't have here.
Welcome back Kathy. The last time I ws in London was the first time I ever saw an Elise. This was right before I bought the S2K. I also missed the changing of the guard, since they didn't perform it that day. Glad to see you had a good time over there. You sure are vacatining a lot lately (London and Hawaii).
I like your theory James. You're probably right too.
When I was in Detroit visiting some friends, I learnt that nothing there, no pubs, no restaurants opens past 10pm (gas stations might be an exception).
Need I tell you what Detroit is like?

Satan (in hell): But I killed you!
Saddam: So where am I supposed to go? Detroit?
