Default Horrendous winds, fires in LA.

Palisades fire:

Another huge fire in Eaton Canyon in Altadena:

We lost power last night, now restored (for now). Horrific winds, gusts to 85 mph. Now a third fire in Sylmar. We're bracketed to the east and west. Nervous time. We were awakened to a metal trash can bouncing off our roof! Wing gusts to 85 mph. The wind gusts sound like a freight train. Brush piled up so high in our front yard and driveway, we can't get our cars out of our garage. One burning ember and it could be our neighborhood's turn. Scary time.

I'll take our floods and hurricanes over wildfire any day of the week. Good luck. No thought to preemptve evacuation? With that much unpredictability and the speed that things can go from manageable to "oh sh*t"...I know I probably would've already tried to clear that debris and bail. Good luck....

There's an evacuation warning for parts of La Canada (next door to us). Sheriff's notice this morning said for La Crescenta (where we live) to make preparations for evacuation:

-Gather essential items
-Have an evacuation plan
-Stay informed through official channels such as Genasys Protect

We've been evacuated before because of fire in the Verdugos, which are to the immediately to the south. The San Gabriels are also close by to the north. We're OK for now.

My middle Son & Daughter in Law live just below Altadena in Pasadena, VERY scary night last night for us, they decided to go to a hotel when the smoke got so bad and as they drove there the evacuation for their area went into affect! All these fires are scary to watch & see so many loose their homes

Stay safe, all. Fires are scary as you never know what it's going to do.

All of La Canada iis being evacuated. La Crescenta (us) is under evacuation alert. We've got to pack up and be ready to go. We lost power most of the night. All the stoplights are out. The two Shell stations I use are closed, as is a Union station. I waited in line at another Union station to get gas. I was on empty. Helicopters and sirens and smoke everywhere.

many roofing materials break away in the 60-100 mph range, even without fires the other damage must be terrible. Sorry to hear of this in such a beautiful part of the country. So far there has been a low death count, may everyone stay safe.

Now it's Thursday morning 5 AM. We're ready to evacuate. Last night outside our house reeked of smoke for the first time. This morning our house reeks of smoke for the first time. It's really terrible! The wind has really died down, which is very good news. Our neighbors are up and stirring but nobody's ready to evacuate yet. La Canada (to our immediate east) is fully evacuated, but I don't think is too fire impacted, but I really don't know. La Crescenta east of Pennsylvania is all shut down as of last night. Some businesses west of Pennsylvania to us are maybe still open as of last night. I don't know. Lots of wind damage to our place, mostly fences and some trees down, miscellaneous stuff. I can't tell you how many of our friends have lost everything in the last few days - heartbreaking! Now it's wait and see for us.

Gina, How are Nick and his wife? Any updates on their place? If there is anything we can to to help them - anything at all - please let us know.

We've lived here for over 43 years and have been through many fires and fire scares, but nothing like this, nothing! We've been looking at losing everything, our house, furniture, including a lot of beautiful pieces my dad made for us in his later years, my telescope, photos, collections, and all our stuff that won't fit in Anne Marie's Acura RDX and my Corvette, which is pretty much everything. We've sorted through "take" and "Don't take." Anne Marie and I were talking about it last night. Most of our adult lives, 52+ years of marriage. We've never experienced anything like this. We're hoping for the best.
