How did your parents choose your Name?
I was hatched behind a theatre during a Don Knotts film festival. Across the alley was a sandwich shop. I walked in there, and they yelled "Mike, your sandwich is ready!" I went over there and just took the sandwich. The clerk said, "You're not Mike." I said, "Naww I'm Unkie Trunkie. Your name is Better Make a New Sammich for Mike."
And that's where my name was first uttered.
And that's where my name was first uttered.
I was named after my uncle George Hannigan, my mother's older brother. George was a US Marine who died in the Battle of Tarawa in the Western Pacific during World War 2. He was in a foxhole with several fellow Marines. The Japanese threw a grenade in the foxhole. George jumped on the grenade just before it exploded and saved the lives of the others. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously.
I remember that story RB
