We had mother and daughter sheppards growing up and the daughter was miserable after her mom died. It totally effected her emotionally, and physically - she developed a limp after that!

So sorry for your loss of Zoe.
Pets/companions give us nothing but unconditional love.

If you do have another pet be sure to give him/her attention because they will miss them also.

Rainbow Bridge - Author unkown

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

wow.

Thank you.

I read a passage once out of a ferret magazine concerning the death of a pet, and it made me cry, just as what you posted did. Nothing can ease the pain one feels when a loyal companion is lost, but knowing that so many of you have identified and sypathized with us has made it that much more bearable..

God bless you all.

Dear Everyone,
This is Christa. Corey is letting me use his user ID to send this message out until I get one of my own. I wanted to thank all of you for your thoughts and condolences. I can't tell you how much it means to me. I know we have all lost pet family members and it is a great comfort to know that you all identify. I am so sorry for all of your losses as well. I know that pain for all of us won't go away for many years.

As for Hank, he is depressed. We hate for him to be alone while we're at work, without his playmate. He misses her. Corey didn't want more animals but seeing how Hank is, he's considering another Great Dane.

Thank you all again for being such amazing friends. We are lucky that Corey found you on this site.

Sincerely,
Christa Griffin
