I had a bad Highway Patrol experience yesterday.
I'm on my way home on the westbound 210 Freeway in Pasadena about 5:30 PM. I decide to put the top down. It was cold, but I had a jacket on. I pull into a gore point, one of those triangles created by an offramp, and stop. I put my top down. Just then, a CHP pulls up behind me, turns on his lights, and activates his siren for a second. He gets out and says "You can't stop here. This is for an emergency only, not to put your top down. You sports car drivers think you own the road, don't you? I see you have a radar detector. That means you like to speed. That really irritates me." I reply "Radar detectors are legal in California and I'm stopped." He takes my license, registration, and proof of insurance and sits in his car for five minutes. I'm thinking if He gives me any more shit and I going to say "Cut the crap and just give me a ticket." He comes back, hands me back my stuff and says "You're lucky I didn't give you a ticket pal." Definitely a young punk with a chip on his shoulder.

Glad it wasn't worse for ya, George.
You young punks really should obey the rules of the road.
I got my second ticket this month today...
The previous one was for speeding and I take it for what it is...
Todays was
I work in an industrial area that has bums walking around, sleeping, boozing etc... several cars a month are broken into and or stolen, there is drugs sold all around and of course the cops never see any of this, but this morning boy was I in trouble...
I was pulled over for not coming to a complete and full stop. He says I ran the sign, which I didn't, but possibly I did roll up, look and go... Either way w/ what all goes on in this area is it really neccesary for you to ticket me when there is plenty of real crime all around.

For the most part I think officers of the law are worthless.
We can't catch the guy who put a gun to your head, but we sure can ticket you for something that is at best a questionable stop at a stop sign in an industrial park.
