On my way home today, I saw a news crew at the nearby creek/storm drain. When I got home, I turned the tv to that channels news. Turns out they were reporting about West Nile virus.
La Colina Park is just down the street from me.

(CBS) SAN JOSE Officials in San Jose are taking the fight to mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus, which claimed the life of a California man in Kings County, state officials announced late last week.
The battle against the potentially deadly disease will target San Jose's Almaden and Willow Glen neighborhoods, where the county's first infected mosquito was found Friday and infected birds have been discovered recently.
"West Nile Virus is a very serious disease," said Dan Strickman of the Santa Clara County Vector Control District. "About 20 percent of the people who are infected will have some kind of symptoms."
Beginning Monday, informational flyers will be mailed to every home in the area, warning them of the danger and the need to take precautions, such as eliminating standing water on their property.
The Santa Clara County Vector Control District is overseeing the effort.. Eleven of 18 infected dead birds have come from Almaden and Willow Glen sections of San Jose and six have come from either La Colina Park or its immediate surrounding area.
A three- to five-person crew will comb the neighborhoods for possible mosquito sources, but they will rely heavily on the community.
People are also being asked to report any dead crows and jays, or hunting birds such as falcons, hawks and owls that appear to have been dead for less than 24 hours and have suffered no apparent trauma.

We've had west nile in our area for 4 or 5 years. It's another overblown news story.
And 1 in 100 of those that have symptoms will actually get sick or die. END OF THE WORLD!
