IMHO you *need* grandstand tix at a speedway or short oval but at a road course (like Portlan) they're quite optional. At a Street course (like Toronto, Vancouver or San Jose) I'm split. I've done both and both have their plusses.

I might say get grandstand so you can have *both* experiences... the grandstand seat and the walk-around-different-spots experience. The paddock pass is a must especially if you've not been to an open wheel race before.

Thanks for the insight. Maybe I'll do the Silver Grandstand since that includes the paddock pass. I was originally thinking GA + paddock pass.
