In the meantime, I'm going to get a longer lead for him to spend more time outside, since he loves it. I won't leave him outside overnight though - coyotes regularly pass through the property.

Y'all probably have something similar. Basically a non-profit accepts referrals from families who aren't well off and gets other community members to sponsor them. So this year I purchased a food hamper for a small family (all the fixin's and more), and then I also got them some gifts. It helps out a family AND my strong desire to buy stuff this time of year.

I know some communities do an Angel Tree where you can pick an ornament off the tree and it lists a child's age and gender, but I like giving parents things too. When I dropped off the hamper this morning, the staff said they have way more families than donors, so we might go back and see if there are some individuals we can pitch in for.
