i was just kidding, i could be wrong, but when I did the plug wires on the rx7 it was "only as thick as necessary" I can't remember why....

sounds like a pretty solid setup. I'd probably go with a torquer or tunnel ram intake, just to be different. I also am fond of trick flow and edelbrock victor heads. but I've read good thing about the vortec's.

are you going to stroke it? 383 ci???

well, with plug wires, if your coils can only produce so much voltage, why do you need plug wires that can handle "so much voltage + 5kv"? just like when those ricers install a high-flow fuel pump, and they think they'll get more power. well, dummy, if you don't remap the fuel plot and reprogram the PCM and install high-flow injectors, that fuel pump don't mean shit!

so, right now, the 8.8mm wire is all that i need. also, accel has one of the lowest resistance wires for a great price.

well, if there's enough cylinder scoring or taper, i'll overbore it maybe 0.030. if so, i'd have to tear down the bottom end, so in that case, yes, i'd stroke it to a 383. if i don't have to tear it down, then i'm not going to; save me the trouble of taking it to the machine shop.

with the parts i ordered, i can install them all myself.

the reason i opted for vortec heads is because they were cheap (relatively), have the big in/ex D-shaped ports, and a 62cc chamber. i don't want it too small, because i may put in some 9.5:1 pistons... so i want to have something to work with, without increasing CR too much

probably..... cracking the magic 400 number with a moderate motor is always tough.... I'd bet 450-500 though with the stroker..... maybe 550

I'm going to dyno early tomorrow morning, for a baseline. i'm hoping for at least 275 at the wheels.

plus I bet you can run pretty aggresive timing.... I wonder if it's more beneficial to keep the CR low for more tuning room?
