well, we'll see how it runs on edelbrock-recommended timing. i'll advance it until i get some detonation and knocking, then back it off a few degrees.

the cam i ordered has decent lift, but duration isn't that aggressive at all. i don't wanna go all-out just yet on the camaro. i wanna enjoy it as a streetable muscle car for a few years.

don't doubt me alex

actually the best part about 383's is they are in some kinda sweet spot and tend to make really nice, broad torque curves. I don't know the science behind it, I just know they do

would you like an explanation? or shall I PM Big Ben?

i think it has something to do with the bore/stroke ratio

btw, i didnt say a 550whp all-motor 383 isnt possible, i just meant not with my actual setup

I've seen a 500 hp 383 listed using AFR heads, and Victor Jr. intake. I'm not sure about the cams. Carb was an 830 I believe....

when i go "all-put" i'll probably stroke and bore it to 390, put a bigger cam, domed pistons, bigger valves, and either replace the jets on my dominator for 750 or replace with a 770 double-pumper...

dunno.
