I just got an iPod
It's all jealousy. If Apple were dominant like Microsoft, we'd hate them too. Now we can love them just because they're underdogs.
Of course, if you want to debate MS's business practices, that's another can of worms.

I think my iPod is far better than my Creative. Not a totally fair comparison since the new Creative is much better too.
Mostly I like the smaller form factor and the FAR better UI.

They are truly innovative and produce marvelous technology but... not first. Merely improve on other peeps ideas. Like MS.

I'm afraid you'll find that, that is *exactly* what Apple does. Sorry to break it to you but they weren't first to market with windows, personal computer, mp3 player (even one with a HD).... really very little firsts with Apple.

sort off....innovation is largely dead in personal computing, hence Steve Jobs belief that computers are the next consumer electronic "appliance" (the reason for the timing of the headless miniMac) that said Apple does has a number of firsts or firsts to the "consumer" market First affordable LASER printer, First trackpad on a Laptop (one of the first laptops) First manufacture to abandon the Floppy drive
First backlit laptop keyboard, first 17" laptop ...I could go on

As this sort of stuff goes, I give props to Apple for being (relatively) creative. I think, though, we should all
to Xerox, since most of the UI stuff that Mac and Windows "created" over time is totally due to the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) where the foundation for it was formed. They gave all their ideas away -- perhaps the first true open-source company.
I consider my company (relatively) creative in the fault-tolerant space. It's one of the last bastions of creativity in system software around. I give props to myself for that.
