But it's almost impossible mathematically to get 241 hp out of 148 lb-ft of torque... unless his peak torque occurs at 8550 RPM...

peak torque does not occur with peak hp.... it matters how much torque he has at the peak hp...maybe the spoon stuff keeps the torque higher and flater..but then again..maybe the dyno he used is just off...

I think the Spoon ECU keeps the 9000 RPM limit... but transitions to VTEC 100-300 RPM sooner...

looks like peak torque is around 8000 and peak hp is around 8700....just a guess.....and cut off it at 9000 (I wonder if it cuts the fuel at 9k? that would suck...then that lowers it)...you can rev it to 9.5k and still get good power..if he wanted too....with all the spoon stuff..

Heck..our rpm stop at 9200...

well, the only spoon parts are the cams, no VTEC control unit or ECU. so redline is still at 9000 with fuel cutoff at 9200, and VTEC switchover at 6000.

as for the power/torque numbers, those are the best of three separate runs. we didn't run it on a dynojet. anyway, the 241hp run netted about 151lb-ft, but after "cleaning up" the plot, peak was shown to be at something like 146lb-ft. the runs were so inconsistent (maybe due to 99F ambient temperature) so we ran them three times. also, peak torque was just a tad over 8000rpm.

which brings up another point. all the other cars/van were only run once, so true hp/tq figures can be off quite a bit. the 300zx tt we ran twice though, just for fun. first run: 607hp/639tq, second run: 618hp/639tq

yes, i'm having the s2000 fixed. it's costing quite a bit, so i'm thinking about swapping out suspension pieces (control arms and lower wishbones) with spoon's lightweight aluminum pieces (or some cheaper, one-off brand). it should reduce unsprung weight by about 15lbs all-around. either way, i'm having some stiffer urethane bushings pressed into all four corners. the brake rotor was shattered but i think i'm still gonna stick with a factory OE replacement. i've yet to think "man i wish i had better brakes" so stock is still good enough for me.

btw, power is there definitely, and according to the butt dyno, and especially the chassy dyno, it's all up high in the powerband. that's exactly what i wanted, so i'm not complaining.
