It's summer!
The Summer Solstice occurred at 8:26 AM EST. The Summer Solstice is one of two points on the ecliptic, the great circle of the celestial sphere that is the apparent path of the sun among the stars or of the earth as seen from the sun or or the plane of the earth's orbit extended to meet the celestial sphere, at which its distance from the celestial equator is greatest and which is reached by the sun each year about June 21 to begin summer.
I went outside last night at 10:45 and there was still color in the western sky. I love Idaho. Here in Kuna (near Boise) we are so far north and so far west in the Mountain time zone, that it stays light for a long time. If you look at a map we are almost directly above Las vegas and they are on the Pacific time zone.
