yes it is.

What they did is cut open the conjunctiva and implant the jewelry underneath. Then they close the conj or let it heal up naturally.

We do the same thing for shunting devices with glaucoma surgeries. There is all sort of risk after glaucoma surgery and the deviced have been tested to make sure it's compatible and safe (relatively).

The shunting devices treat blindness from glaucoma and this device is just dumb.

actually, I don't think that person can feel it. It's under the conj so it should be pretty comfortable.
