I don't know what I'm going to do when I graduate... I guess if I get a job up in Dallas I'll spring for broadband.

 

There ain't no goin' back, Carlo. Besides, when you graduate, whatever company you work for will have like 700 Terabit access... You can't work in a scientific discipline anymore without unfettered access to the internet.

 

Well, I was referring to my home needs... It's a pretty safe assumption that the workplace will have fast connection.... unless someone is deliberately trying to run it into the ground...

What really pisses me off is these telecom companies charging us a shitload for cell phones. People in asia pay a FRACTION of what we pay from the same telecom companies...

 

Yes, cellphone service is another monster racket. Try getting a bare bones service these days. No way. They wanna give you more minutes than you can use, but they wanna charge you $50 or so for service. This kinda' stuff used to be illegal...

Capitalism will eventually solve the problem. I'm waiting for the day that wireless internet is good enough to compete with cable. Maybe never, but for us rural guys there's no choice.

 

That it will but we'll have to wait until there is more competition... But I don't see that happening any time soon....
