Weddings, to me, are just like graduation ceremonies... You don't do them for you. I can't fathom why a young couple would want to spend $10,000 to $20,000 on a 1-day event, and be paying for it for years to come. It's mostly just tradition with no really logical reason outside of "that's the way we've always done it". Of all the weddings I've been to, the only thing I remember is the receptions...

Well we definitely paid alot but the good thing was everything was paid for ahead of time... no balances to pay no credit cards...
All the rings even got paid for too...He'll never let me live down how much he paid for my engagement ring...
Including the rings and wedding we paid well over 25k...Man and that was pinching pennies... we didn't have any help from family members either... I'm very proud of ourselves!!!

Maybe this is my practical side kicking in... but $25K?!?! I don't even want to think about how many things you could buy with that money that would bring more enjoyment to you and your husband than a wedding.

Oh and don't forget you guys have it way easy... that doesn't take into account all the hair cuts and highlights before hand to get the right color, the maicures and pedicures, the bikini waxing, the tanning oh and the big one the freakin wedding dress... those usually cost about a grand too!!!

although the wedding and all that can bring you memories you will always remember (assuming you don't get sloppy drunk), I believe the money could go to slightly better things. I think it if didn't cost so much and cause such headaches, it would be worth it. But I guess that's what makes it so memorable...you can only afford to do that junk ONCE!
