As to your other comment. I don't want to come off as rude or in anyway offensive, but the title of the thread is "Looking for a gf with an S2000." If you were looking to chat about the car, then there are 1000s of other threads to read and reply in.

Great to hear a couple of others may be driving I will have to hook up with mom when she gets back from Maui and find out the details. Too bad you aren't driving too we could make the S-Train to Vegas.... err at least the S and Miata train I mean.... I have so much vacation time built up I need to burn this year so I don't lose it. Been sometime since I have put together 2 weeks back to back but I refuse to work too much THIS summer. Must ....... ....... and this summer!!!

As for the subject of Jen (or anyone else on the board), I think it is very difficult to develop a good picture of a person SOLELY through the board...particularly in these threads. Also, I think some of the things posted on these threads can be quite off-putting if taken out of context.

Though I happen to live in Redmond, Washington, I have personally met Lesley, Jen and a number of others on the board. It is through this expanded relationship that I have developed a broader understanding of these people.

To this end, and particularly with respect to Jen, I can honestly say that I adore Jen. She is a good friend of mine and I have a great deal of respect for her as a person.

Is the pic appropriate for this thread? That is debatable (with valid arguments on both sides), but it is also out of context. That pic was part of an entirely different conversation and was more appropriate in that context.

As for calling it soft porn...I can understand that, as well. I think one of the questions that has to be asked is was that a picture taken by choice with artistic expression in mind or was it meant for shock value and sexual exploitation. That is a question that only one person truly knows...

Ok...sorry for getting on my bizarre soapbox. I guess this is what I get when I spend 4 LONG days being a chaperone for 16-18 year old high school students for the weekend.

Anyone that knows me KNOWS that I'm probably not the best person to be trying to keep others out of trouble...

First of all...thank you. I'm a little tired right now, so I really wasn't sure if the words were going to come out nearly as coherently in print as they SEEMED in my head...

I agree with you about the impressions we leave on the board. I think that far too many people dismiss boards such as this as not being "real" or "valid" ways of interacting with others and, therefore, tend to act in a way that they would not normally do in real life.

To this end, I think the assumption that many of us are left with is that the words that we read truly ARE representative of who the person is. In my case, this is true. I type words in my posts that I would absolutely say to a person in face-to-face conversation. For others, this is not so true...

I am sorry that you find the picture of her offensive, but I can see that perspective. As for demeaning, unless I am mistaken, that picture was not intended as an exploitive picture and actually came to light on this board in an ENTIRELY different context and I agree that it's appropriateness in this thread is suspect.

Though the pic does not diminish my opinion of Jen in any way, I can understand how others that do not know her in person could easily see otherwise.

I think an important thing for people to do, in "real life" as well as on the board, is to step back from our opinions from time to time and try to see things from the perspective of another.

In closing, MsPerky, I sincerely hope you do not think I am trying to be argumentative. I assure you that is not my intent. I have simply had a very overloaded weekend and this topic seems to have opened a small flood of thoughts and ideas and there was simply no more room in my head left over to keep it inside...
