Major Suckage
James, that's a great visual!

Jim, you / dad have a gullwing??? Oooh, that's totally awesome!!! Always wanted to drive one!
What else do you guys have in the collection?
My dad had a late 60's 250SL and mid 70's 450SL... Nice cars (but no comparison to the modern SL--shweet!)

My Dad's boss had a 69 280sl, really nice car. Not the fastest or best performing but EXTREMELY solid. I offered to buy it when they were thinking of trading it in; car was original owner w/ 39k on it. Unfortunately they traded it in for a BMW. Wish I had gotten it.
:sad for robb:
The 60's SLs sure were nice cars. Just as you said. When my dad sold his just a few years ago, he lost as much money as he had put into it though, and I had trouble forgiving him for that... On the other hand, it was his car.

My all time, highest drool factor though has to go to the 60's E-Type. You guys read Road & Track??? I'm really enjoying Peter Egan's discussion of his ongoing E-Type restoration. For my 30th, I was this close to splurging and buying one for myself. Kind of regret that I didn't, but I never would've given it the attention it deserves!
Damn... I
cars! I guess that's why we're here, eh???

Actually my Dad's boss had an E-type with the Sl and he traded both for beamer conv. I love side glances in R&T and especially have enjoyed P.Egan's cross country trips in various interesting cars. I think an E-type is a beautiful automobile but would be terrified to work on it. Have u ever seen the rear brake setup on one? It's funny whenever I list my dream cars I always forget about the 280 sl but it is one of them. It's a curse to love so many cars! Just gotta make more$
Last time I read side glances(quite a while ago) Peter had bought an E-type coupe is that the one he is restoring? Don't feel bad Charlie I promised myself a 308 for my 30th. JUst have to reset goals from time to time it happens.

Exactly, robb!
I have heard that the suspension componentry on an E-Type is about the most complex work of art in automotive history.... But, I've never experienced it myself. I'd love to see one stripped!

Fixed it already, Jack (against PW rules, but sometimes I get a little anal)
