I love these problems cause you can plug your answer in and if the equation is true then you know u did it right

eh.. i wouldn't worry about it if i were you... you're not gonna use math past college.. (unless you plan on being a mathematician or a chemist or physisist.. or some crap like that..) and don't worry... you can just sleep through college math and still pass... so dont' trouble yourself with this...

Hehe, in fact that's how computers solve these problems. Plug in half a billion different numbers and keep going until they get the correct answer.

I guess you could have meant:
1 * (x^6) / 2 * (y^(-1))

I just assumed you meant:
(1 * (x^6)) / (2 * (y^(-1)))
