I wonder if it was a poisoning as opposed to an overdose. It’s on my mind because another client passed away.

Hard to say, but from media reports it sounded like an overdose, though there are many people who end up having accidental overdoses. I don't know much about that scene and I have never known anyone who has taken drugs, not something I ever dabbled in any form.

There is no such thing as an ‘accidental overdose’. He took those drugs willingly.

Dave I’ m saying this with as much kindness as I can. Your opinion is not fact. Yes, people choose to use drugs. But the drug supply isn’t what it was - people don’t always know what they’re using. Most substance users I know don’t actually want to die. They want pain relief. An example that isn’t addiction related: a friend of mine has seizures and takes Ativan. His brain was short circuiting and he forgot he took one. So he took another. Forgot and took another…He overdosed but not by choice.

CBabe - with respect, I’m going to disagree with you. People who use drugs ( legal or illegal) know the risks and know what the consequences are.

I think we’re using different definitions of “accidental.” I’m saying there’s generally no intent to harm themselves whereas you seem to be saying the overdose/poisoning is foreseeable. As it turns out both can be true at the same time.

More like unintended overdose. That is the word I should have used.

Many many people do not intend on overdosing but it happens and it wasn't their plan to die from it but they surely knew the risk existed when they started.

My wife and I come from a very strict background where drugs have never been part of our lives, and we don't know anything about them. I wouldn't even recognize most drugs. It is hard for me to judge anyone as I don't know what they are dealing with , I just know what I want or don't want.

‘Accidental’ is when you fall onto a drug needle. ‘Accidental’ In the Carvey’s son’s death is purely by choice. You don’t accidentally drink the 9th rum and coke, you don’t accidentally eat the 27th donut, you don’t accidentally go swimming in 0 zero weather - you choose to do those actions. Plain and simple.
