Perhaps 'arms' is the wrong appendage.
Ugh, this thread has my dander up. I honestly used to love our country. These last few years, though, I feel more like an outcast.

It's really easy to justify and execute violence. What's hard is to improve yourself. I hate our current administration more than any in my lifetime, and I don't trust a word any of them say.

Speaking of cat food, one of Robyn's kittens pissed on my suit bag (it was on the floor temporarily) last night and now I have to get the suit dry cleaned...

I'm trying to figure out why the filibustering of something like 5% of GWB's judicial nominees is actually newsworthy?

Nothing else going on? Not sure. Probably the most notable factor in it is the absolutism and lack of compromise both sides are showing, and the unwillingness of W to select nominees that both sides are comfortable with.

I'm disgusted with how rigidly partisan Washington has been in the last 4 years. I thought it was bad under Clinton, but the Dems are evidently REALLY pissed off (semi-justifiably, I suppose) and it's just a vicious cycle.

I credit in large part the initial words of GWB that he wanted to be a uniter...which he followed up by redefinining compromse to mean the other side conceding all points...

Prior to 2004 I never considered myself to be a member of any particular party. Unfortunately, despite the many weaknesses in the Democratic party today, I find them far less distasteful than the Republican Mafia...I mean party...

No doubt. I guess the rigid partisanship wouldn't bother me if I was a "rank and file" for either party.

And the only uniting W has done was bringing the religious right together in force.

My disdain for politicians crosses party lines.
