Since names like these always get bastardised over time, maybe we should do it ourselves now and make it easier to say.....

Meteorians - we could then choose a meteor on which to proclaim that our God lives and could have festivals each time the meteor came close to the earth

I would suggest that we choose a meteor that comes close to the earth as often as possible in order to maximise the number of festivals that we can have

James-

Better yet, all meteors, meteor showers, comets, asteriods, planetary alignments and conjunctions, eclipses of the sun and moon, Summer and Winter Solstices, Vernal and Autumnal Exuinoxes. We'll party all the time. I'll be the official astronomer for the group and track and post these things.

Damn, this thread went through some interesting twists.

I wasn't trying to denounce any particular religion or organized ones for that matter. I was just bitching and I know that some of you were, too.

I'm Catholic but I occasionally go to a Baptist Church here in CS (they have a good pastor). In light of recent events, the Catholic Church has REALLY pissed me off w/ how they've been handling this crap (molestations) w/ the priests (I know this adds fuel to those against organized religion-I don't blame you). It's complete BULLSHIT! Obviously, I'm for zero-tolerance regarding this issue.

VTEC today; first time. I think I saw God for a couple of seconds there. I hope to get a less fleeting glimpse this weekend when I open blue up on the h'way.

Here's my take: Whatever God is, he isn't what we think he is. Pity the people who actually think/say they're in the know -- they're not. The closest I've ever come to God was when I realized I was an atheist.

Be cool -- it sure ain't in New England!
