Default Mr. Klutz strikes again!

I tripped and fell, in front of the Glendale Fire Department, where I was going to review an underground storage tank file, and dislocated and fractured the middle finger of my right hand. I also banged up my head, arm, and leg. I'm just getting back from Emergency, where I've been most of the day. Cat scan of my brain was OK.

Thanks. According to the hospital report, the paramedics said I was in shock. My finger was grossly bent out of shape but I wasn't feeling much pain. My finger is in a splint and I see a hand surgeon tomorrow. The police took a detailed report. Apparently, they were worried I was going to sue the city (I'm not). I'm still in quite a lot of pain.

Yes

The risk of falling and sustaining injuries significantly increases with age, particularly after 65.

Bummer George! I hope you get the decent pain meds. . . you're a tougher cookie than I!

No meds, Brian. I still have a few Norcos left over from my wisdom tooth extraction. I start 4-6 weeks of physical therapy Friday.

Weird is right. I was lying on the sidewalk after my fall, looking at my grossly misshapen finger, thinking why doesn't this hurt more -- a lot more? Soon enough it did.
