Stregic voting obviously didn't play into most people's minds. The NDP got a good percentage of the gross vote but very few seats. Not saying people should have voted Liberal just to stop the tories, but in a sense voting NDP actually gave the conservatives a lot of districts (Ridings? WTF does that mean?) that the Liberals may have won.
Ridings are the geographical areas (districts if you will ) that a politician runs in.

I know what they are, it's just an odd name for a district.

Lets not worry about it much because it is another minority government that will be overthrown in a matter of months.....

Such rubbish.

But it is a good thing that Harper is probably a closer friend to our Southern friends then the Liberals. The wrong message was delivered over and over to you guys IMO.
True.

I'm just not sure how much I'd worry about improving relations with Washington given the steady stream of bad things coming out of it.

Partly true. I agree it's best for Canada to have good relations with the US... However I think minority gov'ts are superior in many ways to majority gov't. Granted they are often (but not always) short lived, but they force a compromise that usually gets things done.

I like 'em.
