I'm sad to say my stepdad's condition worsened... last night his lung collapsed and now he's in critical care on a respirator. Please continue your prayers as things have seemed to taken a turn for the worse. I can only wish that this is the only bump in the road and things will turn back around for the good.

update: he's making improvements... still sedated on the respirator but he's doing a lot of his own breathing now without the machine doing as much... slowly but surely... as long as its going forward thats what matters

Excellent news. Much better than my dad falling on his head the other day...

Seriously...he's ok, too. CT scan didn't show any signs of new bleeding...

Hey Jake, hope your hanging in there, sometimes these happen post operatively. Hopefully he will come off of the ventilator fully and soon. It is a good sign that he is breathing with the respirator. It has several functions, one of course where it does 100% of the breathing and in your case here, it fills in a breath when he does not do his own. Chest accessory muscles weaken very quickly and Im hoping he is off this before 2 weeks. Breathing seems so easy, but if you dont do it on your *own* for that length of time you can almost loose the ability to. Dont want to scare you, just educate you, and if he is awake and can listen to you, encourage him

:hugs:
