so after thinking for a year about whether it would be financially wise to get a car that's totally impractical, I decided that life is short and, as Tom Cruise said in Risky Business, sometimes you just gotta say "what the hell" (PG version).
So this morning we took delivery of a new (used) car.
This car is faster than the S2000.
V8. two door coupe. Red.

Wow... How did Mom know?
a 2004 f360 challenge stradale (it's like a CR version of the F360 - since this is an S200 forum)
I purchased the car with my brother. Got it from a local dealer. He has first dib - drove it to Socal this morning. I will get it in a few months

at least I got to drive it around a little. It's pretty loud. Seems faster than the S2000 but I wasn't pushing it very hard b/c I was just learning to use the F1 system.
Took a tons of picture then discovered camera had no memory card when I got home. He will email me some pics later.
