My only experiences of Americans in the home environment have been Hawaii and Miami ..... in Hawaii the waiters/waitresses I found to be very fake indeed and didn't think much of them .... having said that, the people that we met there, i.e. on holiday not working, where very friendly and helpful
Though I guess you are going to get these differences wherever you go ...

Luxor sounds like a pretty decent deal, and I think we can probably negotiate a group rate even without 20 rooms if we need.
I do, however, feel the need to reiterate my thoughts on the MGM Grand...I will sooner sleep under a park bench or sitting in a public restroom than stay in that hotel...
