Gotcha.
I more or less learned in a casino environment. Cards always speak unless you muck them. I can only think of one time I played where cards didn't speak, and that was a dealer-calls-it house game where nearly every game involved at least 6-8 wilds and 5 of a kind or straight flushes were needed to win most hands.
