Phone Landline?
We had one in previous home and forever but when we moved to Menifee they were a different area and wouldn't let us have the same # so C-6 said forget it
We've gone almost a year now with just the ONE Cell Phone
you say why not each have a cell phone?
C-6 kinda ditched his when he retired
felt good to him to be free from it
We as I said DID have a land line then but after going almost a year with out one we've decided to go ahead and get one again.
Kind of a peace of mind ( for me ) and our Kids as they always could leave a message if needed or the cell wasn't connected etc....
We are mostly together when out to places but there are a few times were not so knowing if something should happen the cell holder could get ahold of the non holder
if that makes sense
CURIOUS: who if anyone STILL uses a Land Line in conjunction with their Cell # ?

I always wanted to get rid of mine to save money, but we switch providers every 2 years like clockwork, and every time we switch they offer us a landline as part of a package deal so it costs almost nothing, if we ask to remove the landline they say our cost will go up as we won't have the package price. lol. We have two main providers for phone, TV, internet, one provider gives us a good package deal for 2 years, and at the end they want to ratchet up the price, and won't reduce the cost. Then we switch to the other provider and get another 2 year package deal, and we go back and forth back and forth. It is the only way to get a good deal you have to switch providers where they see you as a new customer, the screw you once you become an existing customer.
So turns out we don't actually have an olsk00l Land Line, C-6 said its a VOIP which means Voice Over I P
it uses the internet, I thought because the builder did install a plug thing in one wall which made me think it was the olskool type
but it too goes thru the inter web. He says the Phone Co isn't gonna install Land Lines when you can just use your cell
I'm still glad we will have the back up phone since we only have the one cell.
AND theres another plus, the Panasonic came with 5 phones so I can have 1 in the Garage 1 in the Bedroom 1 in the Kitchen & 1 in C-6 's Lab / Office ( where he builds the geeetar AMP's )
I used the Intercom option once when in the Two Story house up in bed sick
to call Dr. C-6 to come upstairs

Like your input @zeroptzero & @robb

Our current home had a phone number for years but no actual phone. Part of that infamous bundle which is long gone since we realized we hadn't watched "cable TV" in years.
Our last house had a real land line. It hung on the wall in the kitchen of course. I think it was yellow. 15 foot coiled cord. It may have been new enough to have buttons, not a dial.
When my wife started teaching college night courses I had a car phone installed in her car. This was mounted under the dash not like the 60 pound units in the trunk of the car. Not cellular but limited in range. When she was the nurse executive on call at Cleveland Clinic she had to check out a portable phone the size of a briefcase. She referred to it as the nuclear football.
