Default To the Photoshop Gurus

I have been learning Photoshop in order to do ads for work. Heres what Ive done as of yet. They are in chronological order:

and finally, I did this one last night:

I need some feedback on these ads, like what I can do to make them even more innovative than the one I did yesterday. Any ideas?

Is photoshop the best program to use for advertising? I always considered it photo manipulation software. I suppose it does the trick with layering and what-have-you, and your work looks good IMO, but I thought there was a better program. Can't place the name of it.

Illustrator is the de-facto page layout software ...but photoshop's capabilities work fine for what she needs..and she is turning into a wiz!

I think they look great!

The program you use really comes down to personal preference. Most of the detailed chopping I do is in Corel, but everyday stuff I do in the standard paint that comes with windows. It involves a lot of cutting and pasting but is easy for me to use. The only thing that I might add (not saying that it needs to be done, because after all, they look great!!!) is a
colonial type of border around the first one... but someone once said, half of art is knowing when to stop !

vary some of the image/inset sizes. right now they all hover around the same size. if you vary the sizes, you may as well make one really big like 300-400% larger with some smaller insets surrounding it. but what do i know. nice to see you ask for critique, if you are just starting this type of work, it is good to see what others think about it so you can get different perspectives.
oh well, what do i know.

peace.
