I think they look great!
The program you use really comes down to personal preference. Most of the detailed chopping I do is in Corel, but everyday stuff I do in the standard paint that comes with windows. It involves a lot of cutting and pasting but is easy for me to use. The only thing that I might add (not saying that it needs to be done, because after all, they look great!!!) is a
colonial type of border around the first one... but someone once said, half of art is knowing when to stop !

vary some of the image/inset sizes. right now they all hover around the same size. if you vary the sizes, you may as well make one really big like 300-400% larger with some smaller insets surrounding it. but what do i know. nice to see you ask for critique, if you are just starting this type of work, it is good to see what others think about it so you can get different perspectives.
oh well, what do i know.
peace.

BTW, do you mean Java the programming language? I am a Java programmer, but I'm not sure how that would apply to you, here.
actually..... Quark is the KING layout program.. some may argue that indesign is but Quark is industry standard layout program... Not bad for a beginner Sophia.. but if you want me to freelance some side work for ya.. I'm always for hire
