Does anyone know how you can get movies that you download to play on the computer? It opens up and says it's playing in the player, but there is no sound or picture. Is there some type of decoder I need? By the way, it's an AVI.

 

The AVI is probably a DivX file. You need a DivX codec. Either download one from www.divx.com , or do a search for Nimo Codec Pack on Google. Nimo has codecs for DivX, XviD, etc, etc, etc.

I already have DivX, an Mpeg divx, and some kind of global divx. I'll do that search on google I guess.

you should be able to play it in media player.

if your playing the movie in kazaa, ive noticed that they dont play all the time even w/ the codec

 

You need to open the divx player and open the file from the application. You probably have media player as your default to open for AVIs.

 

No, I had RealOne player as my default, but then changed it to WMP, but neither of them work. And yeah, Kazaa wouldn't play it either.

 

beats me. maybe its a bad rip or something.

 

If you've downloaded the codec pack and it's still not playing....try Quicktime.
