Now I remember that was the good part (for me) of my wife having hives.

Hang in there!

At the risk of sending this thread in a whole other direction, have you tried an oatmeal bath? It should be soothing, although I imagine washing it all off would probably bring back the itching.

If you fill a sock or nylon with the oatmeal and put that in the tub you get the same soothing effect without the "mud wrestler trying something new" feeling...

The answer Les is that "yes" you have tried Zyrtec. It's the same thing as Reactine.

I learned this when I came to the US and there was no Reactine here. It's sold as Zyrtec here and is a) presrciption and b) way more expensive.

For our Cornerville folks who use Zyrtec... I always load up on boxes of Rectine when I'm back in Cda... it's way cheaper and available off-the-shelf.

Hi Les,
Did your docs ever check an ANA, rheumatoid factor, or ESR ("sed rate")?
Ever have any pain in your joints along with the swelling? If so, perhaps you should see a rheumatologist as well. Is your primary care MD good about sending you to specialists?
Hope you're better.
Don

Lesley, I'm so sorry to hear things aren't getting better.

As soon as I saw you mention the the word Lupus I . I'm glad to hear that you tested negative for that.

Though I won't be near a computer starting Thursday for about a week, I WILL be in your time zone. Call if you need anything...and I can even fly up if you need someone around.
