I tried this once or twice but it just doesn't work out IMHO. Too many buttons to push and too much baggage. It works best to get a whole new group of friends and make a new (and better) life for yourself. I am much happier not dealing with any of my ex-es.

it depends on how selfish i am and how painful the breakup is at that time. in some situations the guy stays as a bf or else i don't want him to be part of my life. if i thought that my ex understood me better than anyone else, or if being his friend would make me a better person it'll be worth it to be friends.

I don't think it works unfortunately.....

There will always be feelings of hurt, jealousy and the like when one person starts seeing someone else....

It always sounds like a good idea, but personally I don't think it is....

my ex did send me a note that said we should still be friends, but I don't think I can do that, at least not now....

I did the same thing....

I still have many gift that surpose to give to my ex, include the Cathay airline first class tickets for me and my ex to go back to Hong Kong this summer, except we broke up before Summer came...

 

Sounds like you still have serious feelings for the guy Sleepie which is why it would not work being friends at the moment...... (that's what I think anyway)!

When people break up, I think they need a clean break, without seeing each other if possible, otherwise people's feelings can get very confused which can lead to more heartache.....

I know people may feel but given time it will heal
